You know what they say: "all work and no play..." Even the most hard working agent takes a break from it all once in a while, and we thought that you could also benefit from a few moments of relaxation during the summer. On this page you will have the opportunity to share with fellow fans your thoughts on your favourite (and least favourite) The Man From U.N.C.L.E. episodes.

Use the form below to name your 5 favourite MFU episodes and explain your choice. Alternately, name your most favourite AND least favourite episode and tell us why. Try and keep your answers concise (between 100 and 200 words): this will allow more people to participate.

The Neptune Affair: Illya in Russian uniform- need I say more? Seriously, a nice exciting, all round first season eppie, a little more of Illya would be better, but you can't have everything now can you?!

The Birds and the Bees Affair: It's just not Illya's day is it? Action, humor, character interplay, a displeased Waverly- the stuff of greatness.

The Suburbia Affair: Perhaps a tad too much silliness in this eppie, but I love it nontheless. Illya in an apron hey?, well, life doesn't get much better

The Cap and Gown Affair: All three of our men out and about, Illya knows everything, and has been everywhere (or so it seems!). Unusually, McCallum uses a fair amount of Russian accent in this which is interesting.

Anyway, those are my offerings, but alas, due to the BBC I haven't seen nearly half of the episodes and there are no plans to re-air them or release them on video, so I'll just have to make do with the three (yes, three- pitiful ain't it?) eppies I've taped. :-(

Bonnie Erickson

Bat Cave Affair; Five Daughters; Summit 5; Children's Day Affair; Bow Wow Affair. Live David McCallum!!!

Randie Cowan

BEST:

1) THE MAD, MAD TEA PARTY AFFAIR - UNCLE HQ is attacked via toy planes, disobedient electronics, goldfish, licorice guns and exploding ashtrays (ashtray goes bang, and the table goes boom). Fabulous. Zorah Lambert's best role before KOJAK - Queen of the Gypsies.

2) THE GIRLS OF NAZARONE AFFAIR - Illya is thrown into a well, and still manages to rescue Napoleon!

3) THE BOW-WOW AFFAIR - Wow-wow! Bird skulls transformed into miniature human ones. Illya at his most Russian moods, and he gets the girl.

4) THE BATCAVE AFFAIR - Piranahs in the moat! Matador Illya saves the world even after an evening with vampire bats leaves him unable to stand.

5) THE PROJECT STRIGAS AFFAIR - Mission Impossible episode two years before M.I. Force activated. Nimoy and Shatner two years before Trek. Replete with disguises, Illya's death scene, and Turkish mind-altering cigarettes.

WORST:

1) THE CONCRETE OVERCOAT AFFAIR - Silly tripe. Great torture scene and Illya on a leash cannot save this trite sendup of Mafiosi. The horrible music rejected by Batman.

2) THE SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD AFFAIR - Deadly dull. And boring, too. No wonder they're the last episodes.

3) THE INDIAN AFFAIRS AFFAIR - Illya as Paul Newman - another blue-eyed Indian? Native American Exotic Dancer? No wonder there were no ants to devour Illya. I'd hide too from this embarrassing entry.

4) THE JINGLE BELLS AFFAIR - Obvious Xmas stereotype show. They made only one of these stinkers.

5) THE TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER AFFAIR - Fake UFOs for world domination? Even a crappy X-Files does it better.

P.S. - For those who are interested, I have all of the episodes on tape, save <>The Alexander the Greater Affair. I do have the movie edited down from that episode. I also have The Spy with my Face which has additonal footage not shown on TV in The Double Affair.

Connie Lee

Favorite:

1. Never Never (love Mandy!)
2. Mad MAD Tea Party (good mix of humor and action)
3. Foxes and Hound (same as above)
4. Maze (nice twist of plot)
5. Cherry Blossom (sentimental reason - first episode I saw)

Jennifer Lee

My two favorite episodes are the Never Never Affair and the Foxes and Hounds Affair. Too bad for me that I don't have TNT and need to bend over backwards to view episodes. Here's a question though for anyone to answer: Is there a way for one to get a copy of the never published David McDaniel novel The Final Affair? Just wondering. Thanks!

Cindy Ramey

Julie

Favorites:

Foxes and Hounds Affair- truly one of the best
Her Majesty's Voice Affair- Illya, the sexiest tutor around

Steve Martin

Best; Alexander the Greater Affair. 2 hours first of all and the best showing of the U.N.C.L.E. gun! Illya to Napoleon after using them, "hey, I cut my finger."

Worst; My friend the Gorilla Affair One year later, how far the show got off base.

Isabelle

It took me so long to submit my own because I can't really settle on just a few favourites. I finally decided to post these, knowing that I may change my mind afterwards, because I know that these will always be quite up there on my personal favourite list. So here they are, in no particular order:

Favourites:

The Master's Touch Affair: For Napoleon's reaction when he's told Illya has been sold to the enemy (priceless!)
The Children's Day Affair: For a truly great Illya-Suffering episode with great Napoleon-Caring thrown in for good measure! (this was bordering on smarm, ladies and gentlemen)
The Project Strigas Affair: For the best written spy episode of the entire 4 seasons.
The Dove Affair: Even without Illya, this episode was also quite up there in the story department.
The Yo-Ho-Ho and a Bottle of Rum Affair: For Illya at his best natural self in a semi-hostile environment.

Least Favourites:

The Indian Affairs Affair: Need I say more?
The Hot Number Affair: Botched scenario to plug celebrities.
The Prince of Darness Affair: For cheating between parts 1 and 2.
The Matterhorn Affair: For the most annoying, whining, uncooperative, unsympathetic "innocent" ever.

suzanne bissett

  1. concrete overcoat affair
  2. childrens day affair
  3. bow wow affair
  4. yohoho and a bottle of rum affair
  5. batcave affair

  2. Concrete Overcoat Affair (cause Janet Leigh showed "good thigh" when reaching for her knife)
  3. Off-Broadway Affair (who can resist Shari Lewis in tights?)
  4. Take Me To The Casbah Affair (Abbe Lane as a belly dancer... need I say more?)
  5. Quadripartite Affair (Anne Francis with a gun...sigh, just shoot me)
Least Favorite:
  1. Neptune Affair (cause Slim Pickens as a villain still haunts my nightmares)

Jo Mulvey

Fave Episodes:

  1. Arabian A. - Illya in his tiny whites and a parachute- striding acrosss the sand dunes! is it me, or is it getting HOT in here?
  2. Her Master's Voice A. He can keep me after school any time!
  3. Bow-Wow A.- He's so pretty when he's grumpy! That scowl is priceless.
  4. Bat Cave - Martin Landau does Dracula long before he does Lugosi- and then there's Illya- tied up, yet!
  5. Suburbia A. - Silly, yes, but Illya, domestic, glowering, and pouting is a can't miss!
Least Favorites
  1. Jingle Bells-- gag!
  2. Indian Affairs A. - Not even Illya can save this one- and they covered up his hair!

I am currently having a ball writing Man from U.N.C.L.E. fiction. I am creating a new and, I hope, different history for all the characters. Not that there is anything wrong with their current histories - its just that there isn't enough information of any of them at all. In addition to developing Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, I am also bringing Mr. Slate and Miss Dancer into sharper focus. Alexander is given much more of a role in my fiction because I love the old warhorse, and believe him to be much more human that he was ever played on the screen. Illya is, and will always be my heartthrob, and is my primary hero star in my novellas - but the fun really starts when April comes into the story! Looking for something different to read about the men and women from U.N.C.L.E.? Check out Aurabores Press on File 40's Fan Fiction Page.

Jim Wilson

I have an U.N.C.L.E. website at http://uncleimages.bigsitecity.com/ and would like some feedback from uncle fans to see what they would like to see on it.

thanks for your time

all the best

Jim Wilson

And for all of you out there who simply wish to find some information about The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and/or David McCallum, and/or Robert Vaughn, or any other topic related somehow to The Man / Girl From U.N.C.L.E. universe and can't find it anywhere else, here's a section just for you. Make a public appeal to other fans out there!

Betsy

Please e-mail me the answer to this question:

WHO WAS X757 on the Girl from Uncle?
Thanks!

George Senda

Actually, I was wondering why so little mention is ever made of Alexander Waverly/Leo G. Carroll. He was as important as NS & IK in his own way and yet little has been written about his background. It might be interesting for someone to do expounding perhaps on David Mc Daniel's work....perhaps AW is captured by THRUSH and has to get out by himself....

Jonathan

Can you identify the female model on the cover of the 1965 LP Original Music From The Man From U.N.C.L.E.?
RCA Victor LSP-3475, Higo Montenegro.

Julie

Does anyone one have any more recent info on the MFU movie remake that's supposed to come out? I've heard info. about tarantino wanting to do the remake but has now turned it down. Actors such as George Clooney and Sean Bean are being considered.

Julie Davies

Can anyone help? British television production company is producing an inside look at favourite tv programmes including The Man From Uncle. If anyone has any relevant unknown 'behind the scenes' information or contacts with cast and crew, please email me.

Mark Wingfield

Can anyone tell me how to get a copy of my favorite UNCLE episode, "The Girls of Nazarone"? It doesn't appear to be available at Amazon.

SianiBede

My love for this show has been recently re-ignited.

Here's a question and plea:

Is there anyone out there who has the following episodes taped from tv?
1) The Double Affair/The Spy with My Face
2) The Mad, MAD Tea Party Affair
3) The Odd Man Affair
4) The Nowhere Affair
5) The Thrust Roulette Affair

I've been wanting to see these five and have yet to run across them in VHS form or on tv. Is there anyone who has them or any of them and is willing to send me a copy? Please email me and let me know.

Thanks!

Priscilla Stafford

I was wondering is there anywhere on the Internet where someone has written down the script from the Man from UNCLE episodes? I know that's I can't get any of the episodes besides the ones on pro tape but I was hoping if anyone could write down the script for Man from UNCLE episodes. If you know if someone has, please contact me by signing my guestbook on my homepage, http:www.charisjapan.com/pooh.htm

Thanks!

Steve Lewis

Is anyone able to tell me where the best place is to advertise a complete set of 55 Man from U.N.C.L.E bubble gum cards which I collected mid 1960's that are in MINT condition? Does anyone have any idea what I could expect to get moneywise for them?

This space for rent . . . just kidding! J Let's call this the miscellaneous corner. Use this space to share your thoughts about this site, the U.N.C.L.E. universe in general or any related topic with other people around the world.

Pete

Nice site, from pete, England, whom as a child in 60s grew up watching the series and films, luckily we just had the UNCLE films shown on UK TV.

Best wishes to all uncle fans and those whom work so hard to make sites like this possible for us all, thanks

Indeg

Just rediscovered this show thanks to channel 5 (UK) showing all the films over the past few weeks - took a while for me to catch on, but then the memory clicked into gear and I started to remember exactly why it was I loved David McCallum so much when I was 12! Now I'm living in hope that someone will have a brainwave and show the entire series .... well, hope springs eternal!

Patrick, Owosso Mi.

I have been waiting for a mfu movie for years now and have pretty much given up all hope. Some thoughts however George Clooney as Solo, Robert Carlilse or Allen Cummings as Illya. I RECENTLY READ The Materese Countdown by Robert Ludlum which I think could easily be adapted to a great movie script.

Francoise Mercier

Thanks for a very humorous, helpfull and friendly place where to learn lot of news about my favourite tv show! I ONLY MOURN BECAUSE IT APPEARS VERY SELDOM IN FRANCE.
