Plan of Colditz
It is important not to forget that the Colditz series was actually based on the very real events which happened between 1941 and 1945 to all the officers who were incarcerated in the Colditz castle. Apart from the escape plans inspired from the actual ones, many details contributed to remind the viewers of the truth behind the tales. One of these important details was the set itself. Indeed, even though access to the real castle would not be allowed by German authorities until the fall of the wall in 1989, the disposition of the castle in the series is a very accurate replica of the original.
Thanks to Juan Carlos, we are able to reproduce here a plan of the Colditz castle as it was repeatedly shown throughout the series. Now, let your imagination take you within the walls of this damp and cold prison. The year is 1943, you are deep inside German territory and your duty is to escape that place at all costs. That map is probably the most valuable item you could own; so, no matter what you do, do not lose it!
